GONE WEST

The Beast from the east has scuppered the opening tonight of Percy Kelly’s print show in the west.  The Reluctant Exhibitionist is hung and looks wonderful but it has become quite clear that weather conditions are against us. There isn’t much snow but the underlying ice is lethal.  So Theatre by the Lake have decided to cancel. It is too dangerous to be out driving in the dark under these conditions unless you really have to.

Until we know what the weather is going to do next, they daren’t reschedule.  In the meantime, the exhibition is now open every day from 9.30 am and will close at 6.00 pm or later if there are performances in the theatre.  All but one of the works in the exhibition are for sale. (prices from £250 - £1200) I will be around as often as I can but otherwise the Box Office on the ground floor is dealing with sales and enquiries. All sales will go through the theatre. If I’m not there and you want to discuss any of the works you can try me on 017687 75892 (or 07710434443 but mobile reception isn’t great).  Or send a query via the web site www.percykelly.co.uk.  I now live much closer to Keswick so I can pop over quickly if necessary (and if weather permits)

The exhibition is in the Mezzanine Gallery and the Circle gallery. During the Words by the Water Festival from 9th – 18th March, the Circle Gallery will be closed from 11.30 – 2.30 for writers’ lunches. So if you are coming from afar better to check first.

Apart from the Kelly prints on display I do have some original paintings for sale which were displayed in the Retrospective at Tullie House and are in the catalogue Line of Beauty. Many of you asked at the time if any could be bought.  You can e mail me about those and I can give you a list.

More about what Words by the Water have in store for us in my next newsletter.
