WHAT A DIFFERENCE A FRAME MAKES!
I am so looking forward to the new exhibition of the work of Percy Kelly at theatre by the Lake in Keswick . (25th October -15th November). I now have most of the whole exhibition framed and it’s breathtaking. I am so excited.
Last Sunday Robert Adam brought the etchings he has printed from PK’s plates down from Edinburgh. There are 12 different plates we haven’t used yet and they are beautiful (and affordable compared with the paintings and charcoal drawings which fetch large amounts at auction these days). I have put the images and prices of the etchings on the web site www.percykelly.co.uk. Robert is coming into the exhibition for a casual walkabout and chat Tuesdays 4th and 11th November (2pm onwards). The etchings sell unframed so you can take them away on the day. (there will be a framed one of each on the wall for display only.)
We went to the theatre last night to see the latest play Di and Viv and Rose. Beginning in the Eighties, the play took me back to my college days when leaving home for the first time. There was sheer nostalgia in the costumes, the sets and the music as it took us through the decades. The play is about friendship, growing up and independence. Di and Viv and Rose who have never met before share a flat at Uni. All three are very different in background, education, sexual attitudes, ambition and character. The play raises issues we recognize and encounter today. It is fast moving – well over 2 hours passed so quickly with wit, music, dance, laughter and tears. I can see why it became a hit in the West End. I wouldn’t want to have missed it. (It finishes 11th October - I might go again!)
Coming full circle, I was thrilled to be confronted by the BIG poster of the Cockerel advertising the OFF THE WALL exhibition outside the theatre. You just can’t miss it. It was making people smile as they passed by.
